In order to improve the stability of the arm during welding, lifting dumbbells weighing 30 kilograms has become commonplace; and in order to avoid welding defects, long-term continuous welding operations make hands burned. Gao Lei said that if the arc stops in the middle, re-starting may cause welding defects. He didn't choose to stop, so he gritted his teeth and insisted on completing the weld until the end of the welding. When he took down the welder's gloves, he found that his hands were already stuck to the gloves, and they burned them out with particularly large blisters.

Soon, Gao Lei grew into the company's chief technician in a few years. In 2022, he also led 10 welders to form a commando to Fujian to participate in the construction project of the fine steel engineering in Dadonghai. After working hard for more than 1,000 hours, welding thousands of weld ports, the weld inspection pass rate reached 99.5%, which was recognized by industry experts. Gao Lei said: "This is my pursuit and attitude that I always maintain. Every time I weld the next weld, I must be responsible for every weld and stand the test."
