On the morning of April 24, President Xi Jinping held talks with Kenyan President Ruto, who was on a state visit to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two heads of state agreed to elevate the positioning of bilateral relations to a community with a shared future in China and Kenya in the new era.
Xi Jinping pointed out that in the 62 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Kenya have always respected and supported each other, inherited the spirit of China-Africa friendly cooperation and the Silk Road spirit, and promoted the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new level. Elevating China-Korean relations to a community with a shared future in the new era is the strategic choice of both sides. China is willing to work with Kenya to follow the historical trend and the general trend of the times, build a model of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, and lead the development of China-Africa relations and global southern unity and cooperation.
Xi Jinping emphasized that building a community with a shared future is the right path to mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win results, and "similar assistance to the same planet". China and Kenya must continue to firmly support each other in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, firmly support each other in exploring a development path that conforms to their national conditions, deepen exchanges of experience in governing the country, and be peers and true friends on the road of modernization. The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" is a bright business card for cooperation between the two countries. Ruto said that Kenya and China have always adhered to sincerity and mutual benefit and win-win results. After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of 20 cooperation documents in the fields of jointly building the "Belt and Road", high-tech, cultural exchanges, economic and trade, news and media.
The two sides issued the "Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Kenya on Building a Model of All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future in the New Era".
Before the talks, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan held a welcoming ceremony for Ruto and his wife Rachel in the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People.
When Ruto arrived, the guards lined up to pay tribute. Xi Jinping and Ruto climbed to the reviewing stand, the military band played the national anthems of China and Kenya, and 21 salutes were fired in Tiananmen Square. Ruto, accompanied by Xi Jinping, inspected the Chinese People's Liberation Army guard of honor and watched the parade.
At noon that day, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan held a welcome banquet for the Ruto and his wife in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
