The Aksu area in southern Xinjiang plans to sow 7.5 million mu of cotton this year. As of April 13, 3.06 million mu of water have been sown, and the sowing progress has exceeded 40%. 1.1 million mu of cotton in Jinghe County in northern Xinjiang have also entered a busy period of sowing.
In recent years, with the widespread promotion of mechanized cotton planting, technologies such as Beidou navigation and unmanned driving have been widely used in the entire process of cotton planting, greatly improving the efficiency of cotton planting.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the total cotton output in Xinjiang in 2024 was 5.686 million tons, an increase of 574,000 tons from 2023, and has remained stable at more than 5 million tons for seven consecutive years; the proportion of the country's total cotton output continued to increase, reaching 92.2%.
