The consumer associations and consumer insurance committees in many places such as Beijing jointly released consumer insight reports on the fields of kitchen appliances, nutrition and health, cultural tourism, live e-commerce, etc. on the 21st. The report analyzes consumption trends in related fields, existing problems and suggestions for improving consumption quality.

The kitchen appliance consumption insight report points out that in recent years, the trend of upgrading kitchen appliance products has been obvious, and consumer demand has become more quality and diversified. But at the same time, kitchen appliance products still have problems such as uneven quality, relatively single kitchen appliance functions, incomplete discharge of kitchen fumes, and difficulty in cleaning kitchen utensils.

Data shows that in 2024, the China Consumers Association's kitchen appliance products complaints totaled 16,667, of which 5,593 were quality problems, accounting for 33.56%. Typical cases include spontaneous combustion accidents caused by gas stove quality problems; meat grinder blades cracked and popped up and cut their faces, and the merchant refused to compensate; pressure cookers overflowed with safety hazards, etc.

The "buying health products is fooled" is becoming younger

The Nutrition and Health Consumption Insight Report points out that in recent years, nutrition and health consumption has developed rapidly, consumption demand has been strong, and consumer entities have become younger. The middle-aged and young people aged 26-45 account for 79.8% of the nutrition and health consumption market. At the same time, nutrition and health consumption disputes show three characteristics: upgrade of false publicity technology, illegal addition and concealment, and concentrated risks in new consumption scenarios.

The report pointed out that "buying health products is deceived" is no longer exclusive to the elderly, and the "quick health", "quick beauty", "quick fat loss" promoted by merchants have become insurmountable pits for young consumers. The report recommends that the production and operation of the nutrition and health field needs to be strengthened, the rule of law should be strictly supervised throughout the process, and the industry's self-discipline and standardized development should be promoted.

The Cultural and Tourism Consumption Insight Report pointed out that in 2024, the National Consumer Association organized the complaints to be accepted, and the catering services, accommodation services and tourism services related to cultural and tourism rank among the top ten complaints. Among them, there were 23,774 complaints about tourism services, an increase of 63.24% year-on-year. Sixty percent of the survey participants encountered unilateral termination of contracts by merchants, and more than half of the survey participants encountered online booking of hotels and cultural and tourism products, and the publicity was inconsistent with the actual situation.

There are five major problems in live e-commerce, such as exaggerating and false advertising.

The live e-commerce consumption insight report points out that e-commerce live broadcast platforms can meet the consumption needs of most people, the industry has good development prospects, but problems such as high incidence of consumer disputes, low resolution rates, and the need to improve the quality of products and services are also relatively serious. The core issues in the live e-commerce field focus on five aspects: exaggerating the promotion of false advertising, lagging legal rules and platform autonomy, out-of-control supply chain quality management, technology abuse leads to fraud, and consumer rights protection dilemma.
