my country has rich wild animal and plant resources, with about 3,100 species of terrestrial vertebrates, and 130,000 species of insects have been named; more than 38,000 higher plants, including more than 4,000 rare and endangered wild plants.
In recent years, my country has continuously improved the legal and regulatory system for wildlife protection, implemented the national wildlife protection project in depth, promoted the construction of the national botanical garden system with high quality, and focused on building a natural protection system with national parks as the main body. The number of flagship species populations continues to maintain a growth trend.
The wild population of giant pandas in my country has increased to nearly 1,900
The latest monitoring results show that the number of wild panda populations in my country has increased from about 1,100 in the 1980s to nearly 1,900, and snow leopards have recovered to more than 1,200. The number of Siberian tigers and Amurian leopards has increased from 27 and 42 at the beginning of the national park system pilot project in 2017 to about 70 and 80 respectively. The wild population of Asian elephants has increased from more than 150 to more than 300, and the red-crowned cranes has increased from 7 at the beginning of the discovery to more than 7,000. The number of wild populations such as Hainan gibbons and Tibetan antelope has also increased significantly. In addition, 206 endangered plants have achieved wild regression, and many plant species have been effectively protected and restored.
