The reporter learned from the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources that on February 25, all 16 automatic monitoring stations for the water quality of the main rivers entering the Danjiangkou Reservoir area were completed and officially put into use, marking the full coverage of automatic monitoring of the water quality of the main rivers entering the Danjiangkou Reservoir.
According to reports, since the South-to-North Water Diversion Project was officially opened to water in 2014, the water quality of the Danjiangkou Reservoir has generally been excellent, but the water quality monitoring of the rivers entering the reservoir relies on manual monitoring and analysis, and the monitoring frequency is relatively small, and needs to be further improved.
In recent years, relevant departments of the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources have conducted in-depth research, focusing on key river basins and key sections, and expanding the monitoring scope and improving the level of monitoring automation by continuously strengthening the application of new technologies and new instruments. At present, there are 23 automatic water quality monitoring stations in the Danjiangkou Reservoir Area and the upstream of 16 major rivers entering the reservoir, which protects the water quality safety of the first phase of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
Li Fei, general manager of the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Line Water Source Company of the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources, said that the completion of the automatic monitoring station of the main rivers entering the Danjiangkou Reservoir has further improved the hydrological and water quality monitoring system of the Danjiangkou Reservoir area, and can grasp the changes in the water quality of the main rivers entering the reservoir more comprehensively, quickly and accurately, and better warn and prevent abnormal water quality conditions in the upstream of the reservoir area. Next, we will further improve the operation and management of the automatic water quality monitoring station to ensure that "a pool of clear water continues to go north."
