At around 9 a.m. on February 25, the China-Vietnam Hengmo Port Tourism Inspection Channel was officially opened, marking a new level of connectivity between China and Vietnam and injecting strong momentum into personnel exchanges, tourism cooperation and economic and trade development between the two countries.
Dongzhong Port is located in Dongzhong Town, Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. It is across the river from Hengmo Port in Pingliao County, Guangning Province, Vietnam. It is one of China's important land routes facing ASEAN. The official opening of the Dongzhong Port travel inspection channel is not only a major breakthrough in the interconnection of infrastructure between China and Vietnam, but also an important engine to promote high-quality development of the regional economy. It not only optimizes the cross-border tourism experience, but also drives the upgrading of border trade between trade in border residents.
On the one hand, relying on the upgrade of Dongzhong Port, it will further improve cross-border logistics efficiency, reduce trade costs, promote the agglomeration and development of industries such as border trade, processing and manufacturing, and cross-border e-commerce, and inject new impetus into the regional economy.
On the other hand, relying on the opportunity of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone and the RCEP Agreement, the Dongzhong Port will become an important hub for the two-way circulation of characteristic commodities such as agricultural products, electronic products, light industrial products, etc. According to statistics, in 2024: the import and export freight volume of Dongzhong Highway Port (including the Lihuo Channel) was 501,000 tons, an increase of 50.77% year-on-year; the port's pass-through value was 13.178 billion yuan, an increase of 35.21% year-on-year; the port's inbound and outbound trains totaled 405,000 (including small transport vehicles), with an average daily customs clearance of 1,110 (including small transport vehicles), an increase of 28.70% year-on-year.
After the opening of the travel inspection channel at Dongzhong Port, the number of people clearing for clearance each year is expected to reach 122,000.
