On February 25, the "Cambrian Chengjiang Biota Fossils Exhibition" opened at the National Museum of Nature.
Wang Han, Executive Deputy Director of Chengjiang Fossil World Natural Heritage Museum (Yunnan Provincial Museum of Nature): This time, we also specially provided a precious Fengjiao Kunming fish fossil that has never been displayed before, and met the public for the first time.
Fengjiao Kunming fish is the earliest vertebrate found on the earth. It is the common ancestor of vertebrates. "The first mind, the first spine, and the first heart" was found in it. It is the "earliest and most precious known fossil discovered on Earth so far". Its fossil specimens are relatively rare and are a precious fossil material for exploring and studying the origin of vertebrates and the origin of humans.
Chengjiang fossil land is China's first fossil world natural heritage site in Asia, and is known as the "world-class fossil treasure house." This exhibition is not only a good opportunity for popular science education, but also will enhance the public's awareness of the protection of world natural heritage. The exhibition will last until the end of May and is planned to tour the country.
