The national ambient air quality improvement will be large in 2024. The PM2.5 concentration was 29.3 micrograms per cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%; the proportion of excellent days was 87.2%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points year-on-year; the proportion of severe and above days was 0.9%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7 percentage points, and the three binding indicators were all better than the annual target.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment stated that this year, it will still increase its efforts to control key areas for air pollution prevention and control such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Fenwei Plain, and the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and strive to basically eliminate heavy pollution weather this year.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment will encourage local governments to continue to deepen the performance grading of key industries this year, improve the emergency emission reduction list, improve forecasting and forecasting capabilities, and promote further improvement of air quality.
