CCTV News: According to the "Shanghai Release" official account, the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission Command Center released the Shanghai Road Network Operation Report for the fourth quarter of 2024. The report pointed out that the traffic flows of high-speed roads and provincial boundaries in the fourth quarter of 2024 both increased by 2% compared with the previous quarter, and the year-on-year increase of more than 5% compared with the same period in 2023. The congestion on expressways has increased compared with the previous quarter, and the congestion on expressways has eased slightly compared with the previous quarter. In the fourth quarter, the traffic of Shanghai Expressway increased month by month, with an average daily flow of 3.079 million vehicles, an increase of 2% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 6%.

The expressway has intensified traffic congestion compared with the previous quarter, with the congested sections rising from 31 in the previous quarter to 36, with the average daily cumulative congestion period increasing by 15.9 hours compared with the previous quarter. The top three congestion periods are the north and south west (Republic-Luban), the south side of Beizhai and the outer side of the inner ring (Yanxi-Luban). Among them, the south side of Beizhai rose from fourth place in the last quarter to second place, and the congestion period increased by 1.1 hours compared with the previous quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the daily flow rate in Shanghai decreased month by month, with an average daily flow of 1.526 million vehicles, an increase of 2% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 6%.

The congestion on highways was slightly alleviated compared with the previous quarter, and the number of entrances and exits of toll stations decreased from 11 in the previous quarter to 10, and the average daily cumulative congestion time decreased by 1 hour compared with the previous quarter. The top three congestion durations are G1503 Linghai Road Exit, G1503 Gaodong Entrance and G1503 Gaodong Exit. Except for the G1503 Gaodong Exit, which has increased slightly from the previous quarter, the congestion durations of the other two have decreased slightly from the previous quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the average daily traffic of ordinary national and provincial trunk roads in Shanghai was 379,000 vehicles, a decrease of 8% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 1%. Among them, the average daily flow of ordinary national highways was 101,000 vehicles, a decrease of 3% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 2%; the average daily flow of ordinary provincial highways was 278,000 vehicles, a decrease of 10% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 2%.

In the fourth quarter, the traffic in provincial boundary inflows and outflows decreased month by month, with an average daily flow of 711,000 vehicles, an increase of 2% from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 5%. Among them, 358,000 vehicles were out of Shanghai and 353,000 vehicles were entering Shanghai.
