CCTV News: After the landslide, 464 firefighters from the Sichuan Fire Brigade rushed to the scene for rescue as soon as possible. Faced with constant landslides, slippery roads and cold weather, fire rescue personnel were moving towards danger, overcoming difficulties, and searching for the missing persons with all their might. Our reporter also recorded the search process of a team of firefighters.
On the afternoon of the 9th, a sound suddenly came from above the landslide in Yunlian County, Sichuan Province. The sirens immediately sounded at the entire rescue site, and rescue personnel from all sides quickly evacuated from the landslide area. At this time, firefighter Xu Hua was conducting personnel searches under the landslide body. When he heard an abnormal noise, he quickly led a team of firefighters to take emergency risk.
The Aerospace Road Special Service Station of the Fire Brigade where Xu Hua is located is two hours' drive from the landslide site. After receiving the disaster order, Xu Hua immediately organized the team members to bring the search and rescue dogs and life detectors to the scene. The road into the village was narrow and vehicles could not get close to them, so they carried dozens of kilograms of instruments and equipment and walked closer to the scene. He arrived at the scene at around 2 pm on the 8th, and was the earliest reinforcement force to arrive. Since the arrival of this landslide, Xu Hua and his team members have been staying at the scene, racing against time to search for the missing persons, and the most they hear is a harsh alarm.
The security officer at the scene used his mobile phone to record a landslide that was over 5 pm on the 8th. A huge amount of gravel poured down from the mountain, and a large amount of smoke and dust rose in an instant. Xu Hua, who was searching for rescue under the landslide at the time, was still a little scared when he thought about it.
Although the landslides continue, whenever the red flag is released, Xu Hua and his teammates will return immediately and step up the search and rescue. To ensure safety, multiple slope displacement monitoring equipment were installed on site, and each operating point was equipped with safety officers. Dangers continue, and search and rescue operations are becoming more and more precious. In addition to relying on search and rescue dogs and life detectors, Xu Hua and his team members often carry stones with bare hands, clean up debris, and search carefully. Even if night falls, they do not stop searching and rescue. I only slept for half an hour on the first night, and had been searching for more than 20 hours, and Xu Hua's gloves were worn out.
The bigger challenge comes from the feet. The continuous rain, the ridges around the landslide were muddy, and the muddy boots were even more slippery when they stepped on the stones wet by the rain. The search area is full of gravel and loose everywhere, and there is no road at all. Sometimes the search and rescue dog cannot climb up, so they can only rely on firefighters to pick it up and transfer the position. Xu Hua and his teammates were in the rocks, one deep and one shallow, using hands and feet at the same time, slipping everywhere, and each step was extremely difficult. Under high-intensity work, when returning to rest, the reporter found that the socks in Xu Hua's shoes were wet and white smoke was rising next to the stove.
While the rotation rest, Xu Hua and his teammates also stayed near the rescue site. Some are warmed up around the charcoal fire, while others are sleeping in harmony, taking a nap on the firewood, ready to commit to new search and rescue missions at any time.
