In Xi Jinping's book list, Marxism-Leninist works have always been an important category. More than 50 years ago, in a cave in Liangjiahe, northern Shaanxi, young man Xi Jinping read "Das Kapital" three times with the light of a kerosene lamp and wrote more than ten reading notes.

In the winter of 1985, Xi Jinping, who performed his duties in Xiamen, shared his experience in studying "Das Kapital" with Xiamen University students.

"When reading the original Marxist work, we should pay attention to the preface, postscript, the notes below the pages and the appendix after the book, as well as the communication contents of Marx and Engels about "Das Kapital" between Marx and Engels."

"You must read repeatedly and carefully, and you must read the original Marxist work "thick reads thinly, and thinly reads thickly."

Xi Jinping regards reading as his "big hobby" and forms his own reading "methodology".

He once wrote in the article "Seeking Knowledge and Reading Good, Evaluating Eyes and Eyes" published in the "Zhejiang New Language" column of Zhejiang Daily: "You must use 'skillfulness' to read, read skillfully, read deeply, understand choices and pay attention to thinking."
